JEFF JAMES assistant coach - #41
|
Coach James joined the Everett Merchants staff in 2011. He is currently the Director of
Baseball Operations at Seattle University. He was the Associate Head Coach at Everett
Community College from 2008 through 2011. In 2007 he was an undergraduate assistant coach
at the University of Washington prior to that.
During the 2007 and 2008 summers, James was the Head Coach of the San Francisco Seals, a
semi-pro team made up of college players from around the US and in 2009 he was the hitting
coach for the Kelowna Falcons (West Coast Collegiate Baseball League)
He attended Newport High School, where he captained the Knights to the 2001 state title. He
also played quarterback and kicked, earning all-league honors on the football team. After high
school, he first went to Cal Baptist, where he sat out the baseball season due to injury. From
there, he spent the next two seasons at Bellevue Community College and finished his NWAACC
career with a .315 batting average, 11 extra base hits and 28 RBI. Transferred to the University
of Washington where he played baseball for one season.
James is the grandson of former Washington head football coach Don James, who coached at the
UW from 1975 to 1992.
James currently lives in Bellevue, Wash., with his wife Darcee.
